Etymology

From хи́пес ‎(xípes, “a special kind of theft with the assistance of an attractive prostitute; prostitute, stealing from the client”), from Yiddish חופּות ‎(khupes), the plural of חופּה ‎(khupe, “canopy used in a wedding ceremony”) (from Hebrew חופה ‎(khupá)), whence also slang хи́па ‎(xípa, “female genitalia”).^[1][2]
