־ם • ‎(-em, -am) m ‎(feminine ־ן)

1. them: indicates the direct object of a verb.
   • antiquity, Joshua 22:7:

     וְלַחֲצִ֣י ׀ שֵׁ֣בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֗ה נָתַ֣ן מֹשֶׁה֮ בַּבָּשָׁן֒ וּלְחֶצְיֹ֗ו נָתַ֤ן יְהֹושֻׁ֙עַ֙ עִם־אֲחֵיהֶ֔ם מֵעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן יָ֑מָּה וְ֠גַם כִּ֣י שִׁלְּחָ֧ם יְהֹושֻׁ֛עַ אֶל־אָהֳלֵיהֶ֖ם וַיְבָרֲכֵֽם׃

     v'lakhatzí shévet ham'nashé natán moshé babashán ul'khetzió natán y'hoshúa im-akheihém meiéver hayardén yáma v'gam ki shilkhám y'hoshúa el-aholeihém vay'varakhém.

3. them: indicates the possessor of a noun in the construct state.
   • p. 597 BCE, Ezekiel 1:26:

     וּמִמַּעַל לָרָקִיעַ אֲשֶׁר עַל־רֹאשָׁם כְּמַרְאֵה אֶבֶן־סַפִּיר דְּמוּת כִּסֵּא וְעַל דְּמוּת הַכִּסֵּא דְּמוּת כְּמַרְאֵה אָדָם עָלָיו מִלְמָעְלָה׃

     umimáal larakía ashér al-roshám k'mar'é even-safír d'mút kisé v'al d'mút hakisé d'mut k'mar'é adám aláv mil'má'la.

     And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.^[2]

Usage notes

• (direct object): This usually takes a tzere before it, depending on the end of the word to which it's being appended. Thus, תַּעֲבִיר‎, תַּעֲבִירֵם‎; בִּשַּׁלְתָּ‎, בִּשַּׁלְתָּם‎; בִּשְּׁלָה‎, בִּשְּׁלָתַם‎.
