1. לִפְנֵי הַסְּפִירָה ‎(lif'néi has'firá): BC, BCE: used in denoting times before the year 1 CE.

Usage notes

• While used much as an adjective, לפנה״ס is grammatically a prepositional phrase, and therefore does not inflect for gender, number, or definiteness.
