Etymology

From Persian چینی ‎(čīnī, “Chinese; porcelain”), compound of چین ‎(čīn, “China”) and the suffix ـی ‎(-ī), from Middle Persian 𐭰𐭩𐭭 ‎(čīn, “China”), probably from Sanskrit चीन ‎(cīna).
