  1. 이응 (ieung), a jamo (letter) of the alphabet of the Korean writing system, hangeul.
    In the North Korean order, it is both the eighth and the twentieth jamo. In the South Korean order, it is the seventh.
    At the beginning of a syllable, ㅇ (ieung) is not pronounced. At the end, it is a velar nasal ([ŋ]), i.e. similar to the English ng.
