1. (after 이다 to be, 아니다 not to be) because, since

   학생이라서 할인받을 수 있었어요.‎

   Haksaeng-iraseo harinbadeul su isseosseoyo.

   I could get a discount because I was a student.

Usage notes

The suffix -라서 (-raseo) is for the present tense only, and if other tenses are needed, -어서 (-eoseo) and -어 (-eo) are used.
