1. added to another noun to create agent nouns denoting employment:

   βάρκα ("boat")     βαρκάρης ("boatman")

   λύρα ("lyre")     λυράρης ("lyre player")

2. added to a number to denote someone of that approximate age:

   σαράντα ("forty")     σαραντάρης ("forty something year old")

   είκοσι ("twenty")     εικοσάρης ("twenty something year old")
