a_todo_cerdo_le_llega_su_san_Martín
Spanish
Proverb
a todo cerdo le llega su San Martín literally Every pig will get his St. Martin
This is not a correct meaning, because "every dog has its day" in English means that sooner or later, one enjoys some degree of success or fame no matter how brief, for the work and effort that one has put forth. It does not have any negative connotation. A closer saying in English would be "the chickens come home to roost" or that sooner or later, you'll get what's coming to you (but for bad deeds done, not good ones, since after all the pig is getting killed on the day of San Martín!). As Wiktionary correctly notes elsewhere about this saying in Spanish:
In English: "alludes to each one will receive in his moment, the answer for acts committed. If someone has acted incorrectly, sooner or later the moment will arrive to pay for the sin. San Martín is a festival that is celebrated on November 11 in honor of Martín de Tours, being a date much noted in many towns in Spain when the slaughter of a pig takes place."
