  1. (geology) Any rock that has undergone modifications due to dynamic recrystallization following plastic flow; a schist created by crushed or ground rock.
    • 2004, Richard Fortey, The Earth, Folio Society 2011, p. 87:
      Towards the end of the nineteenth century the crush rock known as mylonite had been recognised, a rocky paste that was ground when one mighty rock mass was pushed bodily – or thrust – over another.
