Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *namā, from Proto-Indo-European *nem- ‘to apportion, sacrifice’ (compare German nehmen ‘to take’, Ancient Greek νέμω ‎(némō) ‘to distribute’, νέμεσις ‎(némesis) ‘wrath’).
