odavág

1. (transitive) to throw, fling, hurl, dash something with force to, at, against or towards someone or something (the object is in accusative case, the place or person may require different case endings such as -ba/-be, -hoz/-hez/-höz, felé)

   odavágja a könyvet a sarokba‎ ― to throw the book to the corner (of the room)

   odavágja a könyveket a földhöz‎ ― to knock the books to the floor

   odavágja a poharat a falhoz‎ ― to throw the glass at the wall

2. (transitive) to hurl a remark at someone (-nak/-nek), give someone a piece of one's mind (in an impulse of anger)
3. (intransitive) to hit, strike (with something -val/-vel)

   odavág az öklével‎ ― to strike with one's fist

4. to match, fit something

   az érv éppen odavág‎ ― the argument is relevant (it is to the point)

5. (intransitive) to look, glance, to throw a look at someone (-nak/-nek, -ra/-re)

     Antal lejjebb nyomja a fejibe a sapkát, és a szeme sarkával odavág a komának. Ez annyit tesz, hogy "koma, ne hagyja kend magát", és a koma valóban nem hagyja magát.
