Etymology
Formed as para- +-philiae; equivalent to the Ancient Greekπᾰρᾰ́(pará, “beside”) + φῐλῐ́αι(philíai) (philiai; nominative plural form of φῐλῐ́ᾱ(philíā), philia, “friendship”, “love”, “affection”, “fondness”); compare paraphilia.
