Etymology
From Proto-Albanian*pa ̊, from Proto-Indo-European*peh₂(y)-(“to herd, watch over”). Cognate to Sanskrit पति(pā́ti-, “to herd, watch (over)”). A suppletive verb, which occurs in the participle and the aorist and as in the tempora and modi derived from these stems[1].
