Etymology
From Proto-Germanic*raukiz, whence also Old Frisian rēk (West Frisian reek), Old Saxon rōk (Low German Röök), Old Dutch rouc (Dutch rook), Old High German rouh (German Rauch) and possibly Old English rēc, which might be a loanword from Old Norse rekyr.
