   zvana spalgums‎ ― the shrillness of the (door)bell

   balss spalgums‎ ― the shrillness of the voice

2. (of pain) acuteness, sharpness

   karsta sāpe izplūda audos... augot spalgumā', skaudrumā, asumā‎ ― a hot pain flooded into (his) tissues... growing in acuteness and sharpness

3. (of weather) piercing cold

   sals neatvilga, bet vēl pieņēmās spalgumā‎ ― the frost did not weaken, its piercing cold increased (instead)
