Usage notes

In European Portuguese sometimes used as third person plural, to avoid the ambiguity of seu (denotes both third person singular and plural). Otherwise only used in fixed expressions and official forms of address such as Vossa Excelência (president, ministers of state, judges etc.), Vossa Magnificência (dean of a university) or Vossa Senhoria.
