The first part (Ív-) stems from Proto-Germanic*īwaz(“yew”), whence also Old Englishīw.
The second part (-arr) stems from Proto-Germanic*harjaz(“warrior”), whence also Old Norse herr(“army, crowd”).
Partly merged with Old Norse Yngvarr, Ingvarr.
