From Proto-Albanian*anTā, from Proto-Indo-European*h₂(o)nh₁-(“breath”). Close to Hittite anza(“desire”), Ancient Greek (Hes.) ἀντάς πνοάς(antás pnoás) and Old Norse andi(“spirit, soul”)[1]. Possibly related to ndiej.
