Etymology

From Jewish Aramaic ארדיכלא, from Akkadian [script needed] ‎(arad ekalli, “builder”, literally “slave of the palace”). Cognate with Classical Syriac ܐܪܕܝܟܠܐ ‎(ʾardēḵlāʾ).
