In particular, it is frequently used as a shorthand for המוסד למודיעין ולתפקידים מיוחדים ‎(hamosád l'modi'ín ul'tafkidím m'yukhadím, “the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations”), known in English as the Mossad.
