1. First-person singular past tense (suffix conjugation) of שָׁמַע ‎(shamá)
   • Exodus 3:7, with translation of the King James Version:

     וְאֶת צַעֲקָתָם שָׁמַעְתִּי מִפְּנֵי נֹגְשָׂיו

     v'et tsaakatám shamá'ti mip'né nog'sáv

     and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters
