1. cl.1 P. (Dhātup. xvii, 72) हसति (mc. also °ते ; pf. जहास, जहसे MBh. &c. ; aor. अहसीत् Gr. ; fut. हसिता ib. ; हसिष्यति MBh. &c. ; inf. हसितुम् ib. ; ind.p. हसित्वा, -हस्य ib.), to laugh, smile, laugh at (instr.) ShaḍvBr. Gobh. MBh. &c.
2. to deride, mock, ridicule (acc.) MBh. R. &c.
3. to surpass, excel Kāvyâd.
