Etymology

From Proto-Hellenic *-ďďō, from a stem ending in the consonants *g, *gʷ, or *d + the Proto-Indo-European present suffixes *-yeti ‎(transitive imperfective suffix) or *-yéti ‎(intransitive imperfective suffix).
