Etymology

Not a native Latvian suffix, -isms occurred in many borrowings and is now fully integrated. Ultimately from either Ancient Greek -ισμός ‎(-ismós) or Ancient Greek -ισμα ‎(-isma), like its English cognate -ism (see etymology of -ism).
