1. Feminine form of -ový; added to nouns to form adjectives meaning “having the quality of” (similar to -y), or “pertaining to”.

   jahoda → jahodová (jahodová zmrzlina – strawberry ice cream)

   chrám → chrámová (chrámová loď – nave of a temple)

2. Feminization suffix used to form a female surname from the corresponding male surname (used for wives and daughters).

   The name of Mr. Novák’s wife is Nováková, the name of their daughter is also Nováková.
