Etymology

Probably merged from three medieval Germanic personal names. The second part is rīhhi ‎(“ruler”).The first part is Proto-Germanic *amal- ‎(“vigor, bravery”) , heim ‎(“home”), or Proto-Germanic *ermunaz ‎(“all,complete”). Cognate to Hungarian Imre. Comparable to English Emery and Amory.
