Cognate with Low German Jäkel (“icicle”), Danish egel (“icicle”), Norwegian jøkel (“glacier, icesheet”), Icelandic jökull (“glacier”), , Swedish jökel (“glacier”) and probably Albanian akull (“ice”) (Gheg okull).
