Etymology
From Proto-Albanian*baśkā, from Proto-Indo-European*bʰedh-sko(“bundle, heap”). Cognate to Ancient Macedonian βάσκιοι(baskioi, “fasces, bundle”), Ancient Greek φάσκωλος(pháskōlos, “leathern bag, sack”), Latin fascis(“band, bundle”) and Middle Irish basc(“collar, neck chain”).[1]
