- From Proto-Balto-Slavic *dolʔn-; *delʔn-[1]. Cognate with Latvian delna[1] and Polish dłoń[1]. There are some suggestions that this term is linked with a verb dilti (“to be worn out”)[2], which Derksen doubts however.[1]
