A contagious disease of horses, associated with painful ulcerating enlargements, esp. upon the head and limbs. It is of the same nature as glanders, and is often fatal. Called also
farcin
, and farcimen
. ☞ Farcy, although more common in horses, is communicable to other animals and to human beings.
Farcy bud
, a hard, prominent swelling occurring upon the cutaneous surface in farcy, due to the obstruction and inflammation of the lymphatic vessels, and followed by ulceration.
