gutunji f (plural gutunji/gutunje)
From gutunj, gutunjiu, or less likely a Vulgar Latin root cotōnea, taken as a feminine singular from the plural of Latin cotōneum, ultimately from Ancient Greek κυδώνιον (kudṓnion). Compare Daco-Romanian gutuie, Italian cotogna, Sicilian cutugna; compare Latin māla cotōnea < mālum cotōneum.
