From Old French seson, seison ‎(“time of sowing, seeding”), from Latin satiōnem, accusative of satiō ‎(“act of sowing, planting”) from satum, past participle of serō ‎(“I sow, plant”) from Proto-Indo-European *seh₁- ‎(“to sow, plant”).
