skaļums m (1st declension)

1. (physics, of sounds) loudness, volume (the degree of audible perceptibility that characterizes a certain intensity of sound)

   skaļuma mērvienības‎ ― unit of loudness

   skaļuma regulēšana‎ ― adjusting the volume

   simt decibelu skaļumā‎ ― at a volume of a hundred decibels

   skaņas stiprums raksturo fizikālu procesu neatkarīgi no tā, vai to uztver klausītājs vai ne, bet skaļums ir subjektīva īpašība‎ ― the sound intensity characterizes a physical process independently of whether the hearer perceives it or not, whereas loudness is a subjective quality
