Possibly from Vulgar Latin*trabaclāre < Latintrabaculare, or alternatively ultimately from Vulgar Latin *tripaliāre, present active infinitive of *tripaliō from tripalium, or derived regressively from travagghiu. Compare Spanishtrabajar, Italiantravagliare, which was a French loan word (meaning the Sicilian may ultimately be a borrowing as well, likely through Old Borrowing from Norman/Old Northern Frenchtravaler, traveler; compare French travailler).
