1. old man (a man in old age)

   īgns vecis‎ ― grumbling old man

   pagasta vecis, vecākais — parish elder

   garš, izdilis, stiegrains vecis‎ ― tall, skinny, sinewy old man

2. old one, husband

   viņa dēla rīcību pārstāstīja vēlreiz vecim‎ ― she told (her) son's actions once more to (her) old one, husband

3. (colloquial, in the plural) parents

   jaunekļi mēdz savus vecākus lielīga žargonā saukt par senčiem vai večiem‎ ― young men tend to call their parents in their jargon ancient or old ones

4. (colloquial) man, guy

   “dēlī ir tā mašīna”, viņš teica, “jāgaida remonta veči”‎ ― “that machine is on the plank”, he said, “we now have to wait for the repair guys”

   “veči”, kur te var piezvanīt pa telefonu?‎ ― guys, where is there a telephone here (lit. where can one call by telephone here)?
