  1. Used to form adjectives from nouns meaning "without (the thing mentioned)"; -less.
    արցունք (arc’unk’) — tear
    անարցունք (arc’unk’) — tearless
    օժիտ (òžit) — dowry
    անօժիտ (anòžit) — without a dowry, portionless
  2. Used to form the opposites of adjectives; un-, dis-.
    համաչափ (hamačap’) — symmetric
    անհամաչափ (anhamačap’) — asymmetric
    համաձայն (hamajayn) — concordant
    անհամաձայն (anhamajayn) — discordant

Usage notes

This is the most common negative prefix in Armenian.
