Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *wendʰyo-, from the root *wendʰ-, whence also գինդ (gind, round), because of the round shape of coriander seeds. For this primary sense compare Georgian ქინძისთავი (kinʒistavi, pinhead, literally coriander's head).
