Old Armenian

Etymology

From Parthian zʿwr, zwr (zūr, deceit, falsehood; deceitful, false; vain, in vain). Compare Middle Persian zwl (zōr), Persian زور (zūr), Avestan [script needed] (zura-); these are cognate with Sanskrit ह्वार (hvāra, going crookedly) and ultimately Russian зло (zlo).
