Etymology

J̌ahukyan following Bailey derives from Iranian, together with կիրճ (kirč). Compare Khotanese [script needed] (ke̮ca, cleft, ravine), for which Bailey reconstructs *kart-čā- or *kirsta-, from the base *kart- (to cut).
