Etymology

Since Müller connected with Sanskrit विष्टि (viṣṭi), विष्टी (viṣṭī, forced service, compulsory work) and considered an Iranian borrowing. Compare Khotanese āviṣṭa- (troubled), Sogdian ʾʾwyštk (confused).
