N. of a celebrated वैष्णव reformer (founder of a particular Vedantic school which taught the doctrine of विशिष्टाद्वैत or qualified non-duality i.e. that the human spirit is separate and different from the one Supreme Spirit though dependent on it and ultimately to be united with it ; he lived at Kancipuram and Sri-rangam in the South of India, in the 12th century, and is believed by his followers to have been an incarnation of शेष ; he is also called रामानुजाचार्य and यतिराज ; n. or जम् मतम्, रामानुज's doctrine) RTL. 119, 448 &c.
