ㅂ시다 • ‎(-psida)

1. (hortative suffix for sentence-final verbs in the 하오체 (haoche, “formal”) speech level)

   불고기를 먹읍시다. Bulgogi-reul meogeupsida. "Let's have bulgogi."

   김치를 만들어 봅시다. Gimchi-reul mandeureo bopsida. "Let's try making kimchi."

Usage notes

-ㅂ시다 (-psida) is combined with the sequential form of a verb. If the stem ends in ㄹ (l), the ㄹ (l) falls out.

E.g. 걷다 (걸으니/걸으면) (geotda (georeuni/georeumyeon), “to walk”) → 걸읍시다 (georeupsida, “Let's walk!”)

살다 (사니/살면) (salda (sani/salmyeon), “to live”) → 삽시다 (sapsida, “Let's live (in)!”)
