Noun

籠目 (hiragana かごめ, romaji kagome)

  1. A kagome lattice; an arrangement of laths composed of interlaced triangles such that each point where two laths cross has four neighboring points. Although called a lattice, it is more closely related to trihexagonal tiling than to a mathematical lattice.
  2. Short for 籠目籠目 (かごめかごめ) (kagome kagome): the "bird-in-the-cage"; a Japanese children's game, similar to English children's games, like tag and blind man's bluff.
  3. Short for 籠目紋 (かごめもん) (kagome mon): a kind of 家紋 (kamon, family crest) featuring the shape of a six-pointed star, like the Star of David, appearing in the intersections of a kagome lattice in the design.
