- Unlike English this, 這個／这个 is not used for units of time such as 年 (nián), 月 (yuè), and 日 (rì). Rather, 今 (jīn) is used. For example, 今晚 (jīnwǎn, “tonight”), 今天 (jīntiān, “today”), and 今年 (jīnnián, “this year”).
