-énk

1. (adjective suffix, rare) Added to a monosyllable verb to form an adjective to express a permanent, habitual quality or nature.

   él ‎(“exist”) → élénk ‎(“lively”)

Usage notes

• (adjective suffix) No longer productive. Harmonic variants:

  -ánk is added to back vowel verbs

  -énk is added to front vowel verbs
