Pflock m (genitive Pflocks or Pflockes, plural Pflöcke)
An originally Central German word from late Middle High German phlock. Further origin uncertain. Related with Middle Low German plügge, Middle Dutch plug (whence modern Dutch plug and English plug). The German vowel -o- instead of *-ü- requires a different stem formation (compare the Middle Dutch variant plogge).
