Uncertain. Probably an artificial creation as it has only been found in the works of one author, Murnu, created on the basis of Italian dimandare or French demander, ultimately from Latindemandāre, present active infinitive of demandō. However, the Aromanian dimãndare seems to be inherited from Latin, and it may have been borrowed as the source of the Romanian word.
