Usage notes
Herodotus' Αἰθιοπία is the "land of black people", corresponding to the known parts of Africa east of the Nile, i.e. the Horn of Africa and eastern Sudan. In the Septuagint, Αἰθιοπία translates כוש, the Biblical term for "black Africa".
