Old Armenian
Etymology
Either wholly borrowed from Iranian – compare Middle Persian 𐭠𐭮𐭥𐭥𐭮𐭲𐭭 (ʾswrstn), Parthian 𐭀𐭎𐭅𐭓𐭎𐭕𐭍 (ʾswrstn) – or, according to Hübschmann, formed in Armenian as ասորի (asori) + -աստան (-astan). The sound change -իա- (-ia-) → -ե- (-e-) is regular in Armenian.
