To inform, to announce, to make known.
הודיעו לנו שאין חשמל. — hodí'u lánu she'éin khashmál. — They informed us that there is no electricity.

The information being imparted is given either in a clause introduced by שֶׁ־ ‎(she-) or כִּי ‎(kí), or in a prepositional phrase with the preposition עַל ‎(ál).
The recipient of the information, if any, is given in a prepositional phrase with the preposition לְ־ ‎(l'-).
